Philly Top 25 Restaurants: July 2018

Philly is no longer just known for its cheesesteaks anymore. The culinary scene has been transformed, thanks to the number of chefs and restaurateurs elevating the city's food game.

Many of these chefs are at the helm of the restaurants on Foodable's Top 25 Philly Restaurants list.

On this ranking, there are nine restaurants that have made their debut on the Foodable Top 25, including two of the top three restaurants.

Double Knot, a coffee shop, and lunch spot hybrid known for its sushi, dumplings, meats, and other food offerings served in the basement lands on the list for the first time ever at No. 2.

Rounding out the top three, we welcome Hungry Pigeon, an American restaurant in low-key Queen Village that serves up comfort food with a twist.

Landing at the coveted No. 1 spot is Foodable Top 25 veteran Laurel, which was No. 1 in the last ranking and continues to land on this socially curated list. This stylish BYOB (bring your own bottle) bistro owned by Chef/Owner Nicholas Elmi has made a name for itself by serving delicious French & American fare.

Other new restaurants include the Lebanese cafe Suraya at No. 5, the Italian restaurant Vetri Cucina at No. 7, the new American restaurant Friday Saturday Sunday at No. 9, the Israeli restaurant Zahav at No. 16, the farm-to-table BYOB spot Helm at No. 17, the American eatery and bar Kensington Quarters at No. 20, and the seafood gem Little Fish at No. 21.

Philadelphia Top 25 Restaurants: November 2016

You'll be feeling the love in "The City of Brotherly Love" with our latest round of Philadelphia's Top 25 Restaurants. And there's a reason the No. 1 restaurant for November is the champion — it doesn't rest on its laurels, although its name may suggest otherwise. Laurel, a stylish, intimate restaurant that serves French and American fare, with Chef Nicholas Elmi at the helm, took the throne with a score of 177.99. Following close behind at 177.05 is Fond, complete with homemade bread and desserts, which we're sure guests are fond of.

Jokes aside, the competition was fierce, but Vedge rose through the ranks. From its previous place at No. 14, it landed at No. 5, jumping nine spots on the board. Pretty impressive, especially for having only a strictly vegetarian menu. While one restaurant grew in popularity, an old favorite took a heavy drop. NOORD eetcafe, which sat comfortably at No. 9, is now barely hanging on at No. 20. That's not to discredit them, as being on the Top 25 is already an accomplishment, but will we see this hotspot make a comeback?

Speaking of comeback, let's welcome back three restaurants, who haven't appeared in our Top 25 since December 2015: Vernick Food & Drink, V Street, and Bibou. And it's looking like good things come in threes, because we have three newcomers who have made their debut to the Top 25. Congratulations to the modern and sophisticated Fork, the cozy and classic A Mano, and the hip and seafood-centric Wister BYOB!

Philadelphia Top 25 Restaurants: December 2014

The Philly Top 25 Restaurants continues to add new faces to the list this December. While this month's list still contains familiar names, Foodable welcomes four new restaurants to the Top 25 list before the end of 2014.

Described as “American cooking with a rustic twist”, High Street on Market makes it debut at No. 1 with the social score of 175.17. This restaurant draws its inspiration from the diversity of cultures and rich history of Philadelphia. The restaurant, Vedge still remains among the top three, at No. 2. While last month's victor, Vernick Food & Drink drops to round out the top three.

Besides December's top dog, Foodable welcomes a few other new restaurants. The contemporary French-Italian restaurant, Birchrunville makes the list at No. 14. The restaurant, Abe Fisher, known for its Jewish cuisine lands at No. 21 and Percy Street BBQ makes it debut at No. 23.

Philadelphia Top 25 Restaurants: November 2014

There were some major movements within the Philly Top 25 Restaurants list this November. The month's list is mostly made up of familiar names. However, two new restaurants have joined the list this month.

Vernick Food & Drink launches from no. 13 to the coveted no. 1 spot, with the social score of 174.94. This American eatery is known for creative small plates with locally sourced ingredients and for their craft cocktail menu. The restaurant Serpico holds strong at no. 2 and Vedge climbed from no. 6 to round out the top three.

A few new restaurants from last month return, including October's victor, Laurel at no. 8 and a.kitchen+bar at no. 12. Foodable welcomes Blackfish, a BYOB restaurant known for a minimalist, yet tasty menu at no. 9 and at no. 10 is Birchrunville Store Cafe, also a BYOB restaurant that serves a French and Italian style tasting menu.

Philadelphia Top 25 Restaurants: August 2014

Even though this is the only second month that the Philly Top 25 Restaurants have been released, the list consists of only one new restaurant. Similar to the fellow Top 25 Restaurant Cities lists, there was some movement within the list.

The leader of this month's list is Vedge, with a social score of 172.09. This strictly vegetable restaurant was on the July list, when the Philly Top 25 List first debut, at no. 10.  Another restaurant that climbed significantly is Bibou, which moved up from no. 16 to into the top five.
